April Newsletter 2024

DEAR MEMBERS AND SPONSORS:

The next regular meeting of the BEADLE COUNTY SPORTSMEN’S CLUB will be held on Tuesday, April 9th. Social hour will start at 6:00 p.m., with hors d`oeuvres starting at 6:15 pm. and supper served around 7:00 p.m.

MENU: Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable and dessert. We need help in the kitchen following the meeting with clean up. Talk to Ken, Lyle or Janet

The Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club is looking for any student who has completed 8th grade, or is currently in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade in high school and is interested in conservation, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Apply for Youth Conservation Camp held June 2-8th, 2024 at Camp Bob Marshall in the beautiful Black Hills. Download an application at South Dakota Wildlife Federation “camp” tab until May 1st. We are having a ‘sweatshirt raffle’ at the cost of $1 a chance. If you’re a winner, you’ll get a certificate to pick up your color choice and size at Signature Plus.

We will also have a pistol raffle board at the cost of $5 a chance.

We have a Perpetual Memorial Plaque at our clubhouse. Contact Sharon if you are interested in having your loved ones name(s) engraved on a plate; the cost is $50 for each plate. We wish to keep this memorial to only names with ties to the Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club.

The Big Buck/Bull/Lunker Contest was held at March 12th meeting. Winners: Rifle – Elk, Jim Winegar; Archery – Whitetail, Donna Frank.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped at The KOKK Outdoor Sports Show Brat & Hotdog feed on Saturday, March 23rd.

Make plans to attend the Spring Bonanza Saturday, April 20, 2024 7 p.m.

Top prize $1,500; 2nd Prize – Browning X-bolt 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle; 3rd Prize – Ruger American 6.5 Creedmoor with scope; 4th Prize – Ruger American Go Wild in 300 Win Mag. Tickets are available at the April meeting @ $20 each. Planning Children’s Games with prizes, $25 Drawings throughout the evening, along with raffle for hand-made knife by Dave Eichstadt, blackjack, pick a duck, dice game for a chance to win a pistol, heads or tails, pay what you pull game, and popular hat raffle. If you have donations for our silent auction, you can bring them on Tuesday, or anytime during the year as we will store them until our bonanza.

The Big Buck/Bull/Lunker Contest planned for our March 12th meeting. The contest is open to only members of the Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club, with an animal harvested in South Dakota in 2023. Plaques will be awarded in the following divisions: Rifle – Whitetail, Rifle – Mule Deer, Rifle – Antelope, Rifle – Elk, Archery – Whitetail, Archery – Mule Deer, Archery – Antelope and Archery – Elk. For our Fisherman: 1) Longest Walleye caught with hook and line 2) Longest walleye by other method, examples are bow, diving, etc. 3) Longest other game fish not a walleye, examples are paddlefish, salmon, northern pike, muskellunge, etc. 4) Longest any fish by hook and line, examples are carp, buffalo, etc. 5) Longest Bass 6) Longest perch, crappie, or pan fish species. Entries for the fish contest can be a photograph of your catch measured over a ruler with a witness statement or the mount can be presented.

The Outdoor Sports Show will be held at the Norby 4-H building on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds on Saturday/Sunday, March 23 & 24. We’ll be serving grilled brats and hot dogs during lunch time both days for a free will donation.

DEAR MEMBERS AND SPONSORS:

The next regular meeting of the BEADLE COUNTY SPORTSMEN’S CLUB will be held on Tuesday, December 12th. Social hour will start at 6:00 p.m., with hors d`oeuvres of mountain oysters and pheasant patties starting at 6:15 pm. and supper served around 7:00 p.m.

MENU: Baked Ham, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, and dessert. This is a free meal to all members that pay their 2024 memberships by meal time or $15 per person. Bring the form at the bottom with you along with your payment.

Thank you for your generous donations to the Huron Area Salvation Army Angel Tree. We were able to purchase warm clothing to let our area children know that they are loved. At the December meeting, we will again have a basket out if you want to donate to the Salvation Army Christmas Basket program.

Thank you to Ron Wallenstein for getting heat tape on our pipes under the restrooms for the upcoming cold months.

December is election month at the Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club. Up for election are seven positions: A president, vice-president, secretary/treasurer, and four openings for board members. Freddie Coil, Ken Shoultz, Lyle Swanson and Jim Winegar will have their terms expire in December 2023. The chairman of our nominating committee, Lyle Swanson, is working to get candidates for each open position. If you have a nomination, contact Lyle at 605-350-9889.

A board decision was made in November to shut down the clubhouse in January and February 2024 returning on March 12th. You will not be getting a newsletter for January and February. Check out our web page: https://bcsc.club

November Newsletter 2023

DEAR MEMBERS AND SPONSORS:

The next regular meeting of the BEADLE COUNTY SPORTSMEN’S CLUB will be held on Tuesday, November 14th. Social hour will start at 6:00 p.m., with supper served around 7 p.m.

NOVEMBER is the month we traditionally are thankful and count our many blessings! In keeping with this theme, we will serve a Thanksgiving meal for our Sportsmen’s Club members and their families with the following menu: Roasted Turkey, giblet stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, cheesy green beans, cranberry sauce, relishes, rolls and dessert for $10 per adult (children under 18 eat free). Please pay as you enter the clubhouse and get your adult meal ticket.

We will be taking donations for the Huron Area Salvation Army Angel Tree to help local children at Christmas time.

The winners were 1st Prize of $1,500: Rex Mandel & Bob Schutt split; 2nd Prize: Shannon Shoulz- Bergara HMR 6.5 creedmoor; 3rd Prize: Eldon Dahl-CZ semi auto 12 gauge shotgun; 4th Prize: Keith Arneson/Harold King-Springfield Armory 2020 waypoint 22 lr; Pay What U Pull Gun Raffle ticket #2 – Rick Hein; Dave’s hand-made knife – Roger Purintun; 50/50 winner of $400 -Kenny Kempf and black jack winners were Bryce Williams (gun), Jon Schied ($100), and Kristie Shoultz ($50); Duck Pond – Sutton Tschetter ($100) Marshall Nemken ($50), Marshall Nemken ($25) and Brooke Tschetter ($25). Ruger 6.5 with scope winner was Dick Decker and knife winner was Monte Patridge.
